Gil: It's time to give him his own episode

Anyone agree? Ol' Gil needs it, bad.

I think Gil ressembles Jack Lemmon's character in Glengary Glen Ross. I just saw it and it's a striking similarity. The movie came out in 1993 i think. When was Gil introduced?

Ugh, you couldn't be more wrong. I am embarrassed for both of us.

You must not have seen the movie because everything about Gil is in Lemmon's character, Shelley Levene. He couldn't make a sale, he was begging people, and doing everything he could just to get the people's attention. They even look alike, talk alike, act alike. I wouldn't be surprised if Gil's character was not-so-loosely based on Levene.

I think they need to have a show which is dedicated to 3 of my favorite "unknown" characters Gavin (Marge Be Not Proud), Wadlow (22 Short Films About Springfield), and The Khlav Kalash Guy (The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson). All I ask is 1 segment for each character. "Shut up mom!" "Do you find something amusing about the size of my car?" "No pizza ONLY khlav kalash!"

And some ice cold crab juice!

Other part time characters who deserve their own episode:

• the "comptroller"

• Sherri and or Terri

- Milhouse's father (maybe he and Homer get trapped in the salt silo at the cracker factory)

• Wendell, the vomit king

• Lenny & Carl (gotta be gay related)

• the generic nerdy teenage minimum wage employee guy

He was fired from the cracker factory when he got divorced.

Didn't he get a janitorial job over at Allied Biscuit, to tide him over until his singing career took off?

I think they need to do another 21 Short Stories About Springfield, featuring Gil. If there is a Gil episode, I would prefer it not be one of those "____ loses his job and moves in with the Simpsons" episodes or one where he is like dating Selma or something. Give us some Gil backround; why is he such a loser, what makes old Gil tick? That would be cool.

I'm not a writer or anything, but my guess would be Gil's a loser because he's a ripoff of Jack Lemmon's (loser) character Shelly "The Machine" Levine, from Glengarry Glen Ross.

Most Simpsons side characters are rip-offs. Some were blatant (Dr. Hibbert comes to mind).

Hibbert is an exaggerated version of Cliff Huxtable from The Cosby Show (1980's version).
