The entire I'm-sick-of-the-hit-song-I-wrote idea might be a reference to a William Goldman novel, THE THING OF IT IS, written in the mid-'60s. It's about a young composer who writes an obnoxiously successful hit song, and who can't seem to escape it. He takes his wife on a round-the-world trip to clear his head, and wherever they go his song is blaring out of transistors, nightclubs, etc.
