DVD NEWS Bad news: according to tvshowsondvd.com, the report that Fox would release Season 6 in June was a mistake, but it would be released "later in the year". Good news: "The Simpsons: Bart Wars" DVD will be released in North America on May 17 (just before "Star Wars Episode III" premieres), with Mayored to the Mob, Dog of Death, The Secret War of Lisa Simpson, Marge Be Not Proud, and a special "The Making of Bart Wars: The Simpsons Strike Back" featurette. (I think this DVD has been available in Europe for a while.)

REVIEW: C-plus - it started out slow with the Bart and Milhouse bit,
        but I figured that the main storyline would make up for it,
        considering how much it was hyped.  Boy, was I wrong.  The
        only thing that surprised me about this episode was that the
        marriages Homer performed weren't all declared void in the end
        for some reason (for example, Homer misspelled his name on the
        online application).  The ending was flat as well; sometimes
        "walking off together" works ("Lisa's Pony", for example, but
        that was because of Apu's last line), but this time it didn't.
        And why do I have this feeling that Patty's lesbianism is
        going to be mentioned about as much as Maggie's shooting
        ability?

In Patty's speech to Marge, the line "But you can't handle it when your sister finds love in her own locker room" appears to have been changed since it was first animated.

The literal translation of Lev 18:22 is up for grabs, and may not even be referring to homosexual sex, but instead sexual activities between two males in pagan ritual. Besides, it's in the Old Testament and appears to be a revoked cleanlines law. Lev 20:13 is worded similarly and likely refers to the same ritual.

Also, other scriptures used to justify homophobia include Matthew 15:19-20 ("For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile."), Romans 1:26-27 ("For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error.") and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ("Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, robbers - none of these will inherit the kingdom of God.").

Matt 15:19-20 says that sexual actions out of wedlock are condemned. However, this can't be used as an argument against gay marriage (the issue at hand) because it then becomes a catch-22. Rom 1:26-27 can be refuted by the argument that homosexuality is the natural sexual orientation of a gay person, and not a choice, so that they are not really degrading passions. 1 Cor 6:9-10 is rife with translation ambiguities. The word that was translated into "male prostitutes" would literally be translated from Greek as "softies" (a soft-hearted or sentimental person). And the word traslated as "sodomites", literally is just "bedsmen". So likely this scripture doesn't refer to homosexual practices at all.

On the other hand, there is a reference to Lisa's vegetarianism in a large number of episodes, even if it is just the fact that everybody else has meat on their plate.
