My "Where is Sprinfeild" idea

The other day, I saw the episode where Homer joins the Navy and is in a submarine. It's the one where he uses Barts' earring to plug the hole.

Anyway, at one point, there is a map of the world, and it shows Homer saying "left....left....left........nah, go right".

When it's going left, it looks to be heading for a state in the upper left section of America....there is a dot or something on the map that says "Springfield"...I'm guessing Washington....it's just a guess as I didn't tape it....plus I'm Australian and don't know all the states.

I'm gonna go look for screenshots now but so far, this is all I have.

Any help ?

Plus...sorry if the above has been brought up before.....just thought I'd throw it out there as a possibilty.

You could imagine Springfield as a sort of Shangri-La, a mythical place that nobody can quite find. Thus, it could very well be in Antarctica. There is a precedence; I remember seeing a movie at least thirty years ago where a modern crew finds a lost world in Antarctica (it might be "Lost World" from 1960), though I'm not sure if I might be confusing it with an episode of "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", which had the same scenario. Or maybe I saw both.

One of the intriguing things about Springfield is that it seems to be a city-state, like Venice once was. Very few towns can support the level of activity that we see in Springfield. There's a whole burger chain that doesn't really exist anywhere else. They have massively popular local TV shows. Other examples escape me at the moment. And all kinds of famous people either live there, or visit.

I checked the episode, and it doesn't show the entire west coast of america in that shot.....only part of it.

So I guess the best I can do is to say, in that episode it was somewhere on the west coast.

Maybe I'll just reserve myself to the fact that it does move around.

It just bothers me that I've heard Lisa say "The cluse are there".

I think the whole situation has something with the episode where Homer was the garbage commisioner. He stored all the garbage in the abandoned mine, and it exploded into the city.

Anyway, after that the city had to be relocated on a series of flatbed trucks.

Maybie for some reason, they keep moving all the time.
