Crossing my fingers in hopes that The Bible is public domain (think God'll sue me for copyright infringement?):
"You must not bear hatred for your brother in your heart. . . . You must love your neighbor as yourself. I am Yahweh" (Leviticus 19:17-18).
This seems to mirror Lugash's speech in the training room of his gym where's he promising to make Lisa a champion (i.e., "I am Lugash," and "Is cat now. I am Lugash.").

Odd thing, I don't remember Lugash talking about loving one's brother, or neighbor! The mirror's a little fuzzy.

It's only that "I am Yahweh" is repeated many times throughout that section of Leviticus that reminded me of Lugash's repetitive and ill-placed "I am Lugash."

I think it's just that his English vocabulary is so limited that he can't come up with more to say, or that he's so egotistical that he has to keep reminding his athletes who he is. Plus, it's just funny. Similar: "I'm Lenny, that's Carl and Homer. I'm Lenny."
