Three Gays of the Condo

I caught it tonight, cuz knowing my syndicate, I'll prolly never see it again once it hits syndication.

What did you think of it? I thought it started interesting. Even the flashback of Homer being a drunk jerk was plausible enough. But then he moves out. It would have been more interesting if perhaps he stayed and they fought and stuff. I have to admit, though, the scene at Milhouse's dad's place was pretty funny, such as the "3 days without a suicide" sign resetting to zero after we hear a gunshot, and the overhead shot of the building with sounds of all the bachelors pining.

Homer goes to the gay area, which is where the episode falls apart. The Smithers gay innuendo used to be subtle, but here they hit you over the head with it. He's in the gay part of town, the gay guys on the trolley wave to him, he's wearing that rainbow thing, etc. What's even worse is that Homer moves in with two gay men, which is a device some lame sitcom might use. "Three guys live in an apartment, and two of them are gay! Watch what happens on the Gaypartment, on Fox!"

The "Weird Al" Yankovic cameo was forced. He's great, but his appearance was just a poor excuse to have a celebrity on.

I kind of liked "syndicate" - it explained why some episodes/seasons get preferential treatment
