New animation process?

So is there any truth to the rumor that they will be using digital animation like Futurama? And that there will be a new opening scene this season?

I don't mind if they start using that spiffy animation, what I would love is if they get the writers from the former Futurama. Its seems Futurama had the wit, fire and cynicism that the Simpsons had lacked the last few seasons.

I assume it'll probably be more like the use of Digital Ink & Paint technique that is commonplace in animation today, they'd probably do a few 3-D sequences if needed. I wouldn't mind that as much, though it's a surprise that they were able to stall for a long time on getting the series produced the old fashion way with xerox/painted cels photographed on 35mm film, then transferred to video afterwards.
