Lisa, for her part, seems to be self-conscious about the size of her rear end. In "$pringfield (1F08)," she didn't want to wear a Nevada costume because "Nevada makes my butt look big." Nelson claims her butt sticks out in "Lisa's Date with Density (4F04)," and Lisa, horrified, tries to look behind herself. Maybe this is part of the reason she wears those dresses that flare out a little at the bottom -- the better to hide *her* bottom.

Eight years old, and she already has body image issues. It must be tough to be a girl ...

Fortunately, she doesn't let body image issues get in her way. She was brave enough to participate in the Little Miss Springfield Pageant, loves to perform on the saxa-ma-phone at school recitals, and even is willing to sing "You're a Grand Ol' Flag" at dinner parties.

The best expression of her self-image, though, was a few years ago, when "New York" magazine had an article on Back to School fashions, and they featured Lisa on the cover in an Anna Sui creation.
