I'll just bat clean-up for BJR and do what he didn't catch.
Well, what could have easily been a disaster of an episode turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. With very few failed jokes (the only notable example being Homer burning the clothes) this one really succeeded in the humor department, with quite a few highlights (MC Homer and Miss Nag-a-Lot's rap with Beat Master Maggie was great, as was Bart's rap, basically everything Wiggum said, Chalmers' deleted scene and Milhouse's Frisbee, to name a few). The parody of rap culture was nothing great, or original, but it worked as a first act diversion that came back to resolve act three. Fifty Cent's cameo was kept short, and was actually quite funny. The focus on Kirk and Wiggum was refreshing, and worked very well. And the end, with the lie being the best thing for everyone, while derivative of Lisa the Iconoclast, was still very nice. All-in-all, a great showing, getting this a 9/10. (A-)

Announcer: In one week, it's the FOX Valentine's spectacular! (A scene of Homer stuck in the doggie door part of OFF's back door is shown.) Homer: Why must I be so voluptuous? (Cut to Bart's room, where Bart, in an orange hoodie, hops out of his window. Cut to Bart at the concert, where the rapper onstage drops his microphone, which rolls into Bart's arms.) Announcer: Bart discovers his true love: gangsta rap! (Cut to a scene of Lisa, Skinner and a gathering of thuggish types in Alkatraz's shoe closet, watching Bart on a monitor, rapping onstage at the concert.) Bart: Homer is a fat-load. (Homer is seen stepping back as the monitor crashes down, causing all of the gangsters to pull out guns, aiming at him.) Announcer: The Simpsons!
Announcer: They thought it could never happen in Springfield... (Scenes of Lisa in the treehouse looking shocked, Homer on the couch looking shocked, and Chief Wiggum at his desk looking worried are shown. Cut to the living room where Homer and Marge stand reading a note.) Marge: [reading] We have kidnapped your son. Follow instructions and Bart will not be harmed! Homer: Follow instructions? He's doomed! (He falls to his knees, sobbing.) Announcer: Now, Bart's fate rests in the hands of one man (Bart is seen looking around nervously in a kitchen. Cut to Homer and Marge at the breakfast table.) Homer: Send a finger wrapped in today's paper to prove you have him. Marge: Homer! Announcer: The Simpsons, all-new at 8/7c, FOX Sunday.
