Gabbo Gabbo Gabbo!! I just saw in Leonard Maltin's film book a review of an obscure 1929 von Stroheim movie called 'The Great Gabbo'. Its about an egomaniacal ventriloquist with 'unintentionally hilarious musical numbers'. Anyone see the movie?
The repeat episode shown on 12/23: Much of the plot of this episode is from the movie 'The Magic Christian'. In the movie, Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr go around the world to see what people will do for money. In one scene from the movie, Sellers and Starr pay lots and lots of money to an art auction house (to bypass the normal auction) to buy a famous painting (a Rembrandt, if memory serves). Then Starr procedes to cut out the nose because that was his favorite part of the painting. John Cleese, the auctioner, just about has a heart attack. This was very much like Homer buying the Spiderman #1 from TCBG then eating it.
