Strange oddity found with "Bart Gets a Z."

I'm watching the episode on Hulu right now, and right after the teacher locks the cell phones into the drawer, the scene cuts to the class staring angrily at Crabapel. The cell phones are back on their desks, but broken up and smoking! I guess the original scene was to have Crabapel going around smashing the phones, but I can see why that scene would not have worked out.
