You never "go" to any of those things. When you're serious, you're tolerable and sometimes almost interesting. When you're sacrastic, you're annoying. When you think you're being witty, you're sometimes slightly amusing but more often slightly more annoying than when you're being sarcastic. There are at least three others with which I HAVE come to blows, verbally. One is still quite cordial with me since he realizes where I'm coming from.

Well, I'm sorry. I was too harsh. And I agree that what I said could as easily be said about myself. It's rare for me to post something entertaining, let alone funny. You, on the other hand, come up with some gems once in a while. But you seem to be funniest when you aren't trying very hard. I was frustrated because I think you have the potential to do even better. It's silly, but I guess I am frustrated because I feel like you could post gems much more often if you weren't so... I want to say self-conscious, but that's a bit misleading. Focused on yourself? No, that's not it. I don't know how to put it, dammit! It seems like you are thinking about how people will react to your posts and how that might influence their opinion of you, and that affects your posts in a negative way. Does that make sense? I was not offended by any of the comments. I also couldn't care less if some or even most of the people don't like my posts, or me for that matter. As in my real life, I have more enemies than friends here; more detractors than fans. That's life, and it suits me fine. One doesn't have to read my posts.

As I stated, I'm here to be amused, and to amuse myself. And, other who get the jokes! You can't please everyone, and I don't even want to try.

I am also more curious as to the motives for certain responses. BTW, I don't buy your "wanting you to raise your standards" spiel. You don't have to think everything I do is funny. Ian Anderson is one of my favorite composers, and I only like about 40% of what he ever did. I simply don't listen to the stuff I don't like. I also don't write to him telling him to "raise his standards", 'cause others obviously like the stuff I don't. (Sorry, Linguo! My New York is showing.)

And BTW, I have found you to be amusing. One often finds humor in odd places.

Why not sort just by thread like everyone else does, that is what the References: header in the message is for. Plenty of newsreaders allow you to do this, AFAIK it is default in many of the working ones.

Why not get a newsreader that uses the correct usenet headers instead of freaking out on people?
