Went to get my groceries tonight and found to my delight that Kelloggs has now introduced Homer's Cinnamon Donut cereal to us hosers! :) They had it on special at $2.99 a box at my local No Frills mart so I decided to give it a try.
Verdict: Pretty good! Not too sweet or overpowering in its cinnamon flavouring. I would definitely buy more boxes of this.
By the way, printed on the inside of the box was a copy of the Springfield Shopper - a bilingual copy of the Springfield Shopper. Never realized Springfield had a large Quebecois French quarter :) Haven't read it yet, though I did see a picture of Bart and Lisa catching Blinky while fishing. Did the American run of HCDC also include a printed Springfield Shopper?
There's also a few other Simpsons related things available from Kelloggs this month: Springfield Strawberry Pop-Tarts, in a family-sized pack of 12 (and yes, they have the yellow frosting and small candy Simpsons heads) . Also, it appears that FOX has signed a promotional deal with Kelloggs, as several of the cereals have Simpsons artwork on them. Homer's on Corn Pops (asleep and drooling), Bart is on Frosted Flakes (riding a skateboard), Lisa's on Froot Loops (carrying a pile of books), and, appropriately, Marge is on Rice Krispies (grinning a little inanely). No Maggie, I'm afraid. All of the above cereals includes one of four sets of peel-off colourforms(?) and a picture of the kitchen in OFF's house, with the living room printed on the inside of the box. They're also doing the Bart Digital Watch offer they did in the US.
The funny thing about this is that I think I hear the sound of William K. Kellogg hitting 10,000 RPM in his grave :)
(explanation: W.K. Kellogg's original goal when he started his company was to make a cereal that not only was nourishing but also lowered the sex drive - he believed engaging in sex lowered the human life span. The thought of TV's sexiest couple on the boxes of his product is more than a little ironic)
