something I never liked about the show...

sometimes things just do not make sense physically. Like in Lard of the Dance, there is a suction on a tube that is cut off, and for some reason, this causes the fluid to continue to be pumped out to the point of valving the tube!?! Also, in Im with Cupid, Nelson sticks the output of the intestines into the mouth, and it builds up and explodes. Where did all this additional material come from??? Finally, in the most recent episode, the plugging in of the santa causes the transformers to explode (I guess) and shuts off the power. That is not what would happen. Try this at home with your own electronics kit. Get a battery and a whole bunch of lights (parallel or serial it does not matter). The lights get dimmer, not the battery explodes if you put more electron sucking devices on it. Man, that damn wizard!!!

well, it is all good and fun, but I do not like it when the show passes these things off as things that could happen in 3-d land. I think most people can figure out for themselves that the things listed below are good suspension of disbelief things, but maybe not. I think there is a difference between horses changing breeds in mid flight and something that is integral to the plot just not making sense. Maybe I am just nit-picking...

Suspension of disbelief works for me. You'll never see me screaming about the one-second-ago pants-less cat who is carrying three anvils in his now-present pants. Also, I'll never get into a debate over whether or not a transformer can explode due to too much of a load passing through it. It CAN explode; no debate there.

A great person once wrote these words, in response to the questioning of conflicting science facts on TV: " ...repeat to yourself, 'It's just a show, I should really just relax' ".

Um, that kinda confirms what I was saying... Now, if burns caused a large load to be placed on the current to compensate for large usage then sure, it could explode. But the way the simpsons described it was a higher demand caused the downstep in the transformer to go haywire??? I really dont know what happened to tell you the truth. Transformers usually "explode" if there is a lightning bolt or something to the effect running through it.
