Notes for PABF16 (Gone Abie Gone)

Well that wasn't bad - additional family history is not a new theme, in fact one I feel like they've been dipping into a bit much recently, but it was kinda nice. I felt like maybe one more step of detective work and revelation might have helped. Lisa's college fund subplot was fun. The whole thing was generally decent, if not wowing.

DYN: ...Jennifer Tilly (recurring voice on Family Guy among other things) guests? ...Chucky seems to have been voiced by Yeardley Smith? ...Lisa arguably wouldn't even need a college fund, since we can practically assume she'll get a free ride? ...the poker site (and other players) can hear you? That doesn't seem too secure (especially given the way Lisa talks to herself about all her hands)!

Blue moon Initially I was a little annoyed because I thought that while the "blue moon" (day to visit Abe) joke was cute, it may as well actually match one and not be in the middle of the month. Turns out that what I thought it meant (the second full moon in a calendar month, so one at the end) is a popular misconception; it's actually the third full moon in a season that has four and is once every couple years. (Thanks Wikipedia.) The two closest ones are November 21, 2010 and August 21, 2013, so I guess it's not something I can really expect them to stay accurate for.

Delay The football game tonight went into overtime (and still ended in a tie!) and so the Fox lineup did not start until 8:20.

Opening Another nonstandard opening to fit in a blackboard gag (related to election results) - we shall see what happens in repeats.

She really is a fairly prominent poker player, FWIW.

That seems a little strong. She's obviously an accomplished student, but things are pretty competitive, especially at top schools. For me to say that an 8-year-old will clearly get a free ride, he or she better have a pretty amazing distinction.

BTW, in case people missed it, Homer did the Top Ten List on Letterman the other night. It was the Top Ten Things I Love About America, one of which was "It's the only country with cars. I assume." Of course, we know that Homer has been in cars in France, Canada, Brazil, and Japan, probably among others. I sure hope someone was fired over that blunder! B^)

In Abe’s room you can see the jacket from his army dress uniform hanging on the coat rack.

Lisa’s gambling books are “Al Roker on Poker”, “Fold Yourself Rich” and “King of Queens and Full House”.
