I am tired of hearing how "not as good" the Simpsons are the past few years. Is it true or not? Probably, but it doesn't matter. The Simpsons have a legacy as a whole, and should not be judged against itself, only against the crap tv puts on the air otherwise. How many other shows could you watch 10 hours of repeats every week and still laugh every time? So quit worrying about the level of quality each episode brings and just enjoy them on any level you can, because even you few who wish the series had ended after Season 9 will very much miss The Simpsons when they are gone.

The show CAN be judged by earlier episodes. We're not judging the show itself, that's not always possible, but we are judging the current crop of episodes. The only time the show itself can be judged is if the concept of the show is flawed, i.e, a Black Panther and a white supremacist are somehow paired up as college roommates. ________________________________________________________________

IMHO, Seinfeld ONCE rose to the level of The Simpsons with the "Soup Nazi" episode. But then, that's just one episode.
