It's been a while since I've posted here (rehab (jk)) so i've been a bit remiss about reading the NG. I was wondering if anybody else thought that using Burns to play Herod in the Christmass episode was a bit anti-semitic. I say this because Burns, an evil old miser with a hook nose, sets out to kill Jesus. See the sterotypes? I realize that Burns is not Jewish, but Herod was.
Probably any anti-semitism was non-intentional, but I thought I might as well point it out.

I'm sure that you're right that no anti-Semitism was intended , for 2 reasons:
1. Not only was Herod Jewish, but so was Jesus, Mary, Joseph... everybody but the wise men (presumably). So we are absent the image of the Jew afflicting non-Jews.
2. Burns is the most WASPish guy in the whole show. (Well... maybe others, but none spring to mind.)
Anyway, the thought never occurred to me. No more than Milhouse is Jewish and Skinner Egyptian.
All the Apostles were Jewish, too. And you know who else? Broadway.
Burns is the Yale, Skull and Bones, wasp. Now there's your evil misers!
