Hi,
I'm sure this must be answered somewhere in www.snpp.com, but I couldn't find it. Where do you find episode TITLES or NAMES during the show? I know where the episode NUMBER is during the credits, but I have yet to spot the TITLE.
Can anyone please help?

Actually, very few eps. have on-screen titles (this happens with alot of other toons I've seen, too).

The titles/pcodes you see floating around this newsgroup were obtained, for the most part, from people working on the inside.
For the first season we obtain the titles from some published book, whose name is long forgotten.
Seasons 2 to 3 were obtained from Brian Howard, whose wife once worked at Klasky-Csupo, the animation company responsible for animating the show's first three seasons.
Seasons 4 to 8 (I think) were actually posted or supplied by Bill Oakley.
Sadly Mike Scully did not continue this (posting/supplying episode titles) tradition while he was exec. Producer and thus we had to obtain the episode titles through other means. *
Someone feel free to throw-in a correction/addition or two as I haven't been around the newsgroup that much in the last three years and so somewhat out of touch.

But, since you've put this information here, I will add that I found the episode names (before I got on the internet in 1996) by contacting my local affiliate, which had the list of all syndicated episodes titles. I was about to write a book/episode guide on The Simpsons, since I figured there should be one. I also didn't know how to categorize my videotape collections, and how to tell one episode from the other. Previously, I had written the chalkboard gag on the tape to distinguish the eps.
In the library, with USA Today microfilm and old TV Guides looking for airdate info, I stumbled across the internet... which I'd never used. Soon, I'd discovered snpp.com, and I had all of Season 8's titles in a few seconds (Season 8, which hadn't aired yet!). Plus, I confirmed Seasons 1-7's titles this way.
Naturally, I broke down my fears about the internet being BIG BROTHER, and got AOL that very weekend. Then, I find out Ray Richmond was writing an episode guide, so I went and made a website instead. Then, I stumble across Dave Hall on the internet, asking him what Comic Book Guy's real name was, and then I suggested something like "Cecil Wadleass" (that was before 4F14 gave us "Cecil")

---RACK, you are right that Dave did not answer my question as asked, but Dave was totally right in "mind-reading" what I actually wanted. As soon as I posted my question about the episode titles, I realized that I should have put up a follow up question.. "if the titles are not listed, where do they come from on all the sites and newsgroup messages?"
So, leave it to you guys to totally answer my question properly, even though I screwed the question up.
