Did we ever see Snowball 1 in the series?

Do we know how it died?

I believe that Snoball I was hit by a car in the first episode. If not the first episode, then first season.

Snowball's death was mentioned in "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire," the first episode aired, but it didn't actually happen in that episode, or any episode. In "Stark Raving Dad," Lisa reveals that the cat was hit by a Chrysler, and "Treehouse of Horror III" says it was driven by the Mayor's brother Clovis. The information given in THoH episodes doesn't always match up with that given in regular episodes, but it was certainly never denied that Clovis Quimby was the driver.

Snowball makes an actual appearance in "Lisa's Sax," the flashback part of which took place when he or she (do they ever mention Snowball I's gender?) died. Also, Bart sees the cat in Heaven in "Bart Gets Hit by a Car."

Snowball I was female. Bart actually taped a video of her giving birth to a litter of kittens (one of which was Snowball II).

There is an episode in the second season where Bart shows the birthing video to his class. He claims Snowball ate his first choice of kitten to keep, and that Snowball II was his second choice. This scene was cut in syndication, but can still be seen on the Season 2 DVD

When Bart ascends the escalator to heaven in "bart Gets Hit By A Car," we see the white cat "Snowball" with a tire mark on it. Snowball may also be in a Hallowween episode.

Lisa, at one point (I think a Hallowwen epsiode), states it was run over by the mayor's "beer swilling cousin, Clovis."
