Well, that was all right. I think there are two problems. One is that no "future" episode is likely to beat "Lisa's Wedding" (and I don't seem to care as much about the new characters, even after the last 3, compared to the "past" episodes'); the other is that this one took so much time proving continuity and showing practically the entire population of Springfield 30 years in the future that it was just too detailed for its own good. It was like a weird clip show in that way. Everything in it was good - it just didn't add up to much and then it was over. But the core idea, that everyone in the family seemed to be struggling with being a good parent, seeped through from time to time, like when Bart and Lisa bonded in the treehouse (at least at first). So, it was all fine, and neat to see the next iteration of the future, just not great. I do have a few fun freeze-frame moments to investigate at some point, too.
DYN: ...Kodos (or Kang) in the opening as well as a Rigel 7 mention at the very end? ...Nancy Cartwright seems to voice all the grandchildren (even Lisa's daughter), if my ears are to be believed?

Meta Another vague year identification (see AABF23's "in whatever year this is"), when Bart asks who cares what they look like in whatever stupid year this is; earlier "future" and "history" episodes were a little more likely to give concrete years, eg 1974 or 2010.
Look who's dead I imagine that the Krusty-as-Andy-Rooney bit was in the can long before he died a few weeks ago.
And then on Family Guy (Grumpy Old Man, 9ACX07) A "phone sax" bit an hour later involved Peter playing "Baker Street" (now an internet/a.t.s running gag thanks to 3G02) on the sax.
