The final episode should be something along the lines of the first part of the "Who Shot Burns" episode. A mystery with a bunch of complex interweaving plots (a la "22 Short Films About Springfield") that look like they're headed toward a resolution. Then it ends and the title says that this is the final episode of the Simpsons. Talk about a cliffhanger! After they get done screaming people will be figuring out endings for years.

Uh, no.
They should have a contest and allow fans to submit scripts for the final episode. The winner gets to work in person with actual writers of the show to polish it up for production. Maybe they could even do two or three alternative final shows.

This reminds me of the ending of Calvin and Hobbs. The newspaper in my area had a contest where fans draw there own endings to the comic strip. They published bunch of them on two full pages.
