How do they record the Simpsons?

Do the actors interact, or do they come in individually and read, with the editors splicing it all together?

There are no actors anymore. Thanks to modern editing techniques, we can use existing footage to complete each episode without one single actor!

Cartoons are not recorded live. It's a terrible strain on the animator's wrists.

Most guest stars are more accommodating, showing up for the actual recording (and sometimes the table read, as well) if their schedules permit it.
