Good point. We've known that Barney was a childhood chum, but never Lenny, Carl, and Moe.

Actually, we know that Moe as a child was one of the original Little Rascals, from BABF12 "Pygmoelian."

I forgot to add a ref: Either Hamlet or Macbeth, for Lisa's line "Murder most foul?"

In Hamlet, the ghost says "Avenge his foul and most unnatural murder!", and I'm pretty sure there's a similar line in Macbeth.

To me, Moe sounded kind of like Professor Frink when saying "Boy, that's good Yaqui (or yekki, or... whatever)"

OMG. That's exactly what I thought. I was going to post this when I read that and then Katijaikat beat me to it. If you taped it, go back to that; he sounds just like Professor Frink flaven! BTW, Hank Azaria does to both voices.

Smithers Sr.'s death - reference to STAR TREK 2: The Wrath of Kahn. The elder Smithers' death here is remarkably similar to Mr. Spock's death in this film-- severe radiation overdose in a confined chamber by sacrificing himself to save the show (the Enterprise in Spock's case; his son and the whole town in Smithers Sr.'s case).
