Simpsons Road Rage

I love that game. I really do. I didn't stop playing all of Christmas. Such a wonderful game. (Yes, I know it is just Crazy Taxi with a Simpsons spin, but still...)

I have the GameCube version.

have you seen it! the thing is huge! I could barelly even hold the controller I heard that overseas (japan I think) they actually had to make smaller controllers I don't really care that much (I'd never buy one), I just thought that it was funny.

They didn't have to make smaller controllers in Japan, the controllers were ergonomically designed and thoroughly tested. The size they used in the US was appropriate for US users. MadCatz makes a slightly smaller controller for those who prefer that (I have small hands but I can still use the xbox controller quite comfortably.) They are very nice controllers and they don't make your hands hurt after a short time of playing like playstations do because they are designed well. The box itself is not really that big, it doesn't even weigh as much as people like to exaggerate about.

I wasn't very clear, I didn't say that the Japanese controller ISN'T smaller. What I meant was that it isn't smaller because they HAD to make it that way...somehow implying that they suddenly realized that they screwed up and made the US controller too big. The US controller was designed and tested for US users and the Japnese one was designed for Japanese users. The Japanese one is different simply because Japanese people apparently have different preferences (and perhaps the average Japanese person has smaller hands) than US users. I have heard few complaints about the controller from actual xbox owners.

BTW, I haven't played road rage yet but I can't wait to.

There were not enormous complaints about the US controller, this has been blown way out of proportion. And the complaints that were made were by developers pre-launch. Who gives a rat's ass what the developers think about the size of the controller and the arrangement of the controls on it, it doesn't affect their job. What matters is how the users like it. The fact is that few actual xbox owners I talk to (40-50 a day) have major complaints about the controller. They take some getting used to because they are quite different from any other console controller, but unless you have extremely small hands, they are quite comfortable. I'm not saying that the Japanese version isn't better, I'm just saying that the japanese version isn't different because microsoft decided the US one sucked. Designs were already underway for the japanese system before these "enormous complaints" came rolling in.

In addition I think that even the US version of the controller is vastly superior to any controller for any other console, even if it isn't perfect.

You can add me to your list of X-Box owners who don't like the controller. And I know quite a few controllers which feel much better to me than X-Box's. The SNES controller is my favortie controller hands down, with the original Sega Saturn controller following close second. Nintendo's new Game Cube controller is also amazingly comfortable aside from the placement of the Z-trigger. And if I ignore the D-Pad, the PS2 controller is also infinitely superior to the X-Box one.
