    Maggie Roswell returns as the voice of Maude Flanders, who
    apperars in a seance in the opening; Homer's hammock makes clones
    of himself; when Lisa spearheads a guns-for-cash program, the
    zombies of western outlaws rise from the dead; Dr. Hibbert mixes
    humans with animals

Of course, some cities in the Eastern and Central time zones will be
showing a 4:05 (Eastern) NFL game, and will get this episode in
progress (or moved, usually to much later that night - CALL YOUR LOCAL
STATION if the show is pre-empted to find out what time it will air).

DID I TELL YOU ABOUT THE TIME I WAS IN THE SAME BATHROOM WITH SIMPSONS PRODUCER MIKE REISS? No, because it just happened - November 22, at the University of California, Davis. (It was about an hour before his lecture there; he was wearing a Rocky the Flying Squirrel cap, and yes, he really does look like Mr. Bergstrom.) I won't go into too much detail about what Mike said here, so as not to spoil it if he continues his tour, but here are a few notes from the question and answer session:

• Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz are NOT coming back with different voices (out of respect to Phil Hartman)

• There will be no spinoffs

• Somebody asked if Moe was based on Mike Reiss; the reply was that Moe was based on a gorilla

• One time, they put together all of the Itchy & Scratchy clips to see if making it into a series was feasible; all of them put together last about 14 minutes (and the entire thing was so intense that any attempt to make it into a series died then and3 there)

• Somebody asked in what state Springfield is in; Mike's answer was..."Hawaii"

• Mike's least favorite episode: "Homer vs. Dignity" (mainly the scene where Homer is being "attacked" by the panda)

* A number of celebrities ask to be on the show, but when an episode
  is written for them, they change their mind; for example, had
  things turned out as originally planned...
  "Radio Bart" would have had Bruce Springsteen instead of Sting
  "Treehouse of Horror XII" would have had Lyle Lovett instead of
   Pierce Brosnan
  "I am Furious Yellow" would have had George Lucas instead of Stan
   Lee
  "Brother from Another Planet" would have had Tom Cruise instead of
   Phil Hartman

• No company has ever sued the show about mentioning its products. (The Brazilian Tourist Commission threatened to, and I think an eight-year-old boy actually did after the Tourette's episode.)

• Somebody asked if they ever had problems with jokes that were written months before they would air; the reply was that this is probably what makes the show "timeless" in reruns - there's little topical humor involved as most of it wouldn't be topical by the time it aired. (There was one incident mentioned: in "Like Father, like Clown", when Jackie Mason says "Saul Bellow wants to have lunch with me?", the original line was Isaac Bashevis Singer, but he died a few months after the line was recorded, so Mike had to fly to New York, record Jackie saying "Saul Bellow", and fly back - and hope Bellow lived at least until the episode aired.)

• Bad news...they just started working on the audio commentaries for the Season 3 DVDs, so don't expect them before the end of 2003

Really. Nice to see someone on the show expressing some disgust over crap like that. Though Mike has been a little "vocal" over the years it would seem, if only jokingly.

that episode wasn't too bad, it had a good story and had some well written dialogue, it was just that Homer's pranks in the middle of the story were tasteless and completely unfunny

for the futurama episodes, i love being in the middle of the country, not east or west, so do i get the episde or not? well when sunday comes we'll see .......

What? Surely it wouldn't take a whole year for them to do 24 audio commentaries: all it really involves is three of four guys sitting round watching the episode together. It's not rehearsed, scripted or anything, is it?

They couldn't possibly record all of the commentaries (and remember, different episodes require different groups of people *and that all of those people be available at the same time*), press the DVDs, and get them into stores in less than two months.

But your post said "don't expect them before the end of 2003". That is over 13 months from now.
