OT: How many celebs died during the summer of 2003?

I was wondering if anyone has compiled any sort of list of the various celebs who passed on during the summer of 2003.

Since what I am asking about is what happened in the past, it is by no means subjective. A celeb who died in the summer of 2003 was either mentioned on network news or was not. This is a matter of fact, not of judgment or opinion. I suspect you already know that and are just trying to be annoying, though.

No, I am not trying to be annoying. Celebrity is objective. Not everyone who dies gets mentioned on network news. I don't know if you've ever watched network news, but if Matt Groening died, it probably wouldn't be mentioned...

How big of a network? Lots of local celebrities that died, got mentioned on a local network, that you've never heard of.

Yes, it really depends on when you die. A slow news day, and you get a news hit even if you aren't so well known. A busy news day, and you have to be more famous to get a hit. I keep noticing, because I seeing the stories on the internet first, that some deaths don't hit the local paper until as much as a week later. They are worthy of note, but not to bump other things out of the paper.

I think there are cases when someone significant can die, yet not get much coverage, simply because they aren't well known beyond a field. I'm not sure George Plimpton was all that significant, but it would seem he was well known. Adam Osborne died some months back, and got very little coverage. Yet he was important in the early days of small comptuers, writing and publishing some important books, and reporting on those early developments at the time. Then, he started a business tht had the first portable computer, the Osborne. But I'm not so sure he was that well known beyond the field, which I think accounts for the lack of coverage of his death. Unless, it was a busy news week which bumped him.

Take a look at Stiffs.com and check out this years deaths. It's a website for a celebrity deadpool. They've gone through several definitions of "celebrity." Right now they have a group of people that decides. In practice it more or less approximates you're definition

Don't try to make any jokes about whether or not a person is actually a celebrity. Jay Leno already did that when he made jokes about that "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here" TV reality show. BTW, Melissa Rivers was on that show, and what did Joan Rivers say to Homer? "I need help for my daughter! She's not talented!"? Or something to that effect?
