Stuff they left in

Recently I've been hearing about episodes of shows being pulled from syndication (like the episode where Homer is at the WTC.) But tonight, in my area, they showed "Insane Clown Poppy" in syndication, with the entire Gulf War flashback intact. It features Krusty talking about his one night stand in the Gulf, one of his lines is, "Maybe it was the anthrax in the air..."

All we can do is be glad. It looks like some of the shock is starting to wear off, so it's not surprising. A few other things I've seen left in: In "Lisa the Simpson," they left in the entire "When Buildings Collapse" sequence; In TOH V, they didn't cut the line about the flesh-eating virus in the ending chorus line (anthrax is a bacterium, I believe, but still...); "Marge in Chains" will run here in a week or two, so we'll see if they cut any of the opening of that.

The other night I saw that episode where Milhouse falls in love (Damn my feeble memory for not remembering the name!!) and they cut the bit where the woman on the phone asks Marge if she wants Homer to master hostage negotiations! To me this seems far less related than other bits that have been left in. Then again, this was in Britain, maybe the rod up our ass has a rod up its ass.

Yeah, it's silly to think they'd cut all references to terrorism, collapsing buildings, or germ warfare out of The Simpsons.
