(and is soon kicked out)

Errors:

Homer was not wearing a tie at Moe's at the end until it suddenly appears after he puts the money in Moe's tip jar.

Review: The Mike Scully era is ending with a wimper. Yet again we have the beaten to the ground "Homer gets a new wacky job" episode, this time his filling in for Moe and then opening a bar in his home. Worst off, it was Homer the Jerk, as the scene in which he lights up a ciggerate for Lisa and the scene in which he makes Bart & Lisa work in the bar made me cringe. The episode was a series of weak gags strung together with a weak plot. R.E.M. was completely useless too boot. The 3rd act was watchable (which is more then I can say for the first two acts), which raised this from an F, but it will still probaly end up as one of the worst episodes ever when I look back at it in a few months. (D)

I would have said the opposite. The first two segments were good, with the first being very good. The third segment meandered.

Maybe I've become everything I've ever hated, since I thought I would NEVER say this about an episode of the Simpsons, but this episode was... terrible. Parts of it have been done before, it lacked continuity, the hunting/Thanksgiving plotline was completely tacked on, the REM appearance was more gratuitious than most celeb cameos, and, worst of all, they've DESTROYED the Barney character by making him sober. Sure, it was key to the plot of one episode, but there was no reason to make it permanent. Now, his character's pretty much pointless.

By the way, when exactly DID Lenny and Carl become the only other Moe's regulars? What happened to the other barflies, such as the guy who calls Homer Bill?

Well he was his old pathetic self in the episode where Homer gets the crayon removed from his brain (Barney was using himself as a lab rat for money), so the writers seem to be inconsistant in Barney being sober or drunk (i'd rather he stay a drunk)

There was the "narc on our stash" a few episodes ago, and last night was the "digging up drugs in the back yard"

I'm beginning to thing that Homer us USING DRUGS!!!?!!! or, he just likes to have and hide them for the excitement.
