It sounds real to me. All those involved in this dispute sound like they need a long vacation on Blisstonia.
Well it was in the local paper today, so if it's a joke, it's propogated well.
Keep in mind that this has come up before. There was a time a few years back where they wanted more money, and I figured they'd fire everyone and hire Rick Miller (aka MacHomer) to do the voices.

The premise still has SOME potential (as it still should, they have an enormous amount of freedom as a 'sit-com'). If the writers kept their best material, ideally the funny stuff that couldn't be squeezed into 21 minutes at all, even with very fast scenes, then they could be set for a really good Simpsons movie. If they did that, it'd be a good 'high note' to end on - although if it was a massive hit, undoubtedly Fox would push for many more episodes off the back of its success.
I'd like to see a Futurama movie more though - whilst it wouldn't be as big a hit, I'd just love to see more animated Futurama and I think it's got more left in it.
