NEW SEASON...WHY...

Has there been a Halloween episode every season so far? It seems so, or at least almost every season - so why the hell won't the new season begin until AFTER halloween? This sucks...

There was no Halloween episode the first season. There is a Halloween episode this year but not until Nov. 6th because of baseball and the emmys and god knows what other reasons.

The September 11 attack pushed the World Series to November. Fox, who was contracted to show the World Series, still has to show it.

It is possible that it will be seen sometime this season. Last year, the Halloween episode aired on November 1st since Fox didn't want to compete with the Olympics (I would have watched the Simpsons anyway). Their options would be to delay another Sunday night comedy premiere for another week so they can have the Halloween episode air the same night as the intended premiere. Otherwise, the Halloween episode would get pushed back to next year where they would do a Halloween Double Feature, with 12&13.

Didn't it air after Halloween last year, too? And that sure wasn't because of 9/11. Blame it on those miserable bastards at Fox. The Halloween episode used to be a big event (was generally the highest-rated episode of the season), but Fox has ruined that.

Yeah, if it weren't for the Simpsons, Fox would be the equivalent of Channel 82 in Scuffboot, Nebraska broadcasting 50 watts of the Daily Farm Report to Mrs. Gertrude Necessary who watches TV on her 1953 Phico, but not on Sundays, and with the sound off so she doesn't spook the goats.

Futurama gets the same raw deal by being on a crappy time. Fox has to whore the Simpsons as a lead-in to the incredibly crappy shows they want to introduce (Malcolm and King of the Hill being the only possible exceptions) while Futurama gets pre-empted at a moment's notice. Especially when they schedule a football game so that it's still the 3rd quarter at 7pm.
