and how about that couch scene? CABF22

I tried my best to search through all the posts concerning the premiere, but didn't find anything about the couch scene... forgive me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, what was the meaning, or "joke" of the couch scene? The family is on a (simply drawn) boat, then they jump off and they're on the couch with water splashing. I have to imagine there was something I was missing, some reference, especially because of the way the boat was drawn, like a child's drawing.

I know one of you Simpsons smartees can explain.

The boat that they were standing on is the one that is in the painting that is always hanging above the couch. Thus, when they jumped down from the painting, they were on the couch.

The only reference that comes to mind is a painting of a boat's being the door to Narnia in the C.S. Lewis novel "Prince Caspian," IIRC the chronologically fourth book in the Narnia series. If it's indeed a reference, it's an off one, and the 'joke' wasn't funny to begin with.
