Notes for EABF20 (The President Wore Pearls)

That was enjoyable - I was a little worried that the songs might go down the toilet, based on some recent episodes, but they were well-done, to the point, short, smart, and funny. It is a little odd that Lisa would sign the paper blindly, but she did ask to read it later; as well, she didn't suspect anything at that point, and she's _eight years old_. A couple of silly things (Homer's extended d'oh run, the Nixon thing, English for fat kids, Agnes hanging around), but they were overshadowed by the plot, music, and other good jokes/gags. No letter grade...but so far the season is going well.

DYN: ...Springfield has quite a lot of riots? ...other past presidents include Luann Van Houten (well, before she had that last name...unless you subscribe to the "Milhouse's parents are related" theory), apparently Lurleen Lumpkin, someone who looks like Carl, and someone who looks like Louie? ...Lisa's hairstyle looks odd (with the lines drawn in, her yellow hair looks odd) ...gym and music were eliminated, and Largo and Brunella (does she have a last name?) didn't seem to mind? ...either the writers threw in another invalid computerism, or Lisa's email address is [email], with backslash spelled out? (And of course, someone's taken this actual username...)

Other references I haven't seen Evita, but I know it's supposed to be a big reference

Goofs: -Krusty as president...ugh...he couldn't read, he seems to have gone to a different school, etc, but it is just a gag -Krusty's nose in his old picture keeps changing color -Maybe not a goof - Martin was originally just 4th grade president, but it's conceivable that he later became the school body president...

And how! I'm very familiar with the songs from Evita, and the parodies were very close, but not "we'll sue you" close. I thought it was roughly equivalent to the Sheri Bobbins parody songs as far as how close they were to the originals.

He was a street mime there, but he lived in Springfield before that, according to "Like Father, Like Clown." My guess is that he moved to Mississippi after the falling out with his father, and then back to Springfield to do his show.
