Hoover's Disappearance

In "The Secret War of Lisa Simpson", Lisa's class is watching old movies about sand and the moon. When the moon movie finishes, the students discover that Miss Hoover has left the classroom, and that her car is gone. In the next scene, Lisa is in Principal Skinner's office. Is it ever explained why Miss Hoover left?

Yeah. J. Edgar Hoover would disappear to the Del Charro Motel every year with his boy friend, Clyde Tolson. They would go to some race track on the West coast and gamble. And the Murchison family would pick up the tab. That's what Hoover would do when he wasn't probing Mr. Burns.
