Preview from tvguide.com Simpsons Margical History Tour 30 mins. Historical tales told with a Simpsons twist are typically a treat and this one carries on the tradition. Marge "enlightens" kids at the library with her own versions of great figures from the past, as portrayed by a cast of Springfieldians. She starts with Homer as Henry VIII, who announces his presence with a version of the old Herman's Hermits song. As explorers Lewis and Clark, Lenny and Carl struggle against the elements---and Lisa's opinionated Sacagawea. And Bart rocks the Vienna house as a showy Mozart, but sister Salieri (Lisa) sulks at her sibling's success
Off Topic Comments: -Tonight's KOTH was one of the funnier episode's in the show's run. Ben Stiller did a much better job with this character than he did with the sugar episode of the Simpsons. -Anyone else watch 3-South on MTV2 this weekend? That show was awesome. Too bad it had to get cancelled.
Episode Comments: -I liked those baseball card price guides as a kid. -Which version of the Magna Carta did Henry VIII use? I thought that was John. -Where is Ann Boylin's extra finger!!! -Sweet Punch and Judy reference -I would have really liked an "Oregon Trail" reference in the second act. I don't know why, but it would have been cool. -I do like the Sac. reference at the end. Trade it for a real dollar. -I love the K number reference but weren't those added after Mozart died? I thought a fan of his cataloged them posthumously? Maybe I am not right about this one. -The Nelson 5th Symphony "ha ha ha ha" was funny.
Review: Sweet episode. The Simpsons had a pretty bad run with "Tall Tales" and "Stories from the Public Domain", but this more than makes up for those two. It was funny (the laugh out loud kind) and cute and not too over the top. This was probably one of the better episodes I have seen in quite a while. I especially liked how they tied in some pretty cute references about the portrayals of the historical figures. Grade A
Oh, and they better not get rid of Ralph. Unless that Leprechaun comes back and he ends up burning the house down (with him in it)
