The post I was replying to is some sort of file. As such, it belongs in a binaries group, not a discussion group like this one.

A "binaries newsgroup" has a name that begins with "alt.binaries." (Exceptions noted.) Most major newsgroup providers nowadays filter out "misplaced binaries", that is, messages with file attachments that are not posted in a binaries newsgroup. If a message with an attachment (above a certain size to allow for signatures) is posted in a non-binaries newsgroup it will disappear entirely and not be sent to any of the groups (whether binary or not) that it may be cross-posted to.
