Kirk goes from cracker factory position to flyer-delivery assistant

When did this happen? I thought he was a pretty big wheel down there. Poor Mr. Van Houten. Add to this his wife remarrying and Kirk might have to sing a heart-felt ballad to express his emotions...

Still, that announcement of Luanne's engagement (to Pyro?) may be some foreshadowing of what we might be expecting next season. That "crazy wedding where something happens" they were singing about at the end of that last clip show, perhaps? :)

We were told Ozmodiar was going to appear in Season Nine of The Simpsons in the episode "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase" from Season Eight, not the 138th Episode Spectacular.

That's also where we are told of the "wedding after wedding after wedding": Selma marrying Apu, the Bumble Bee Man, and Itchy a bit like at the end of "Gump Roast".

I didn't notice Kirk's voice, but you know who DEFINITELY sounded different? Kearney. Was he voiced by Maggie Roswell, by any chance?

BTW, the growl that "Angry Dad" made on the computer and the growl that Homer made as he ran to his car were the same growl.

Yeah; I feel bad for him too. It's not like he *cheated* on Luanne; they just stopped getting along. He doesn't deserve to be a loser. He seems to sort of land on his feet though--he must have got his car back from Starla the KZOG intern ("I feel like changing wigs") who stole it because he's driving it when the garotte wire slices off his arm in the episode where Homer has Snake's car; and we seem him at the welfare office later in the same episode with his arm reattached.

The only justification for giving Kirk such a horrible life is that it makes it that much sweeter when something goes right for him; for example, if they had an episode where he suddenly became a pop sensation and Luanne wished she hadn't left him and begged him to take her back. Of course, this being a sitcom, and this being *The Simpsons*, I wouldn't trust the writers to end on a high note with a premise like that. They'd probably him shoot down Luanne, then his career tanks and he loses his fortune, then he asks Luanne if her offer still stands, and she says no, you're a loser, and goes off with Pyro. That would suck.

On the other hand, I could also see (although this is less likely) a permanent change like they did for Kent Brockman, who won the lottery, and is still rich today. Imagine Kirk hanging out with Kent and Krusty at the gentlemen's club. They could do a lot of good jokes about how, because he was poor until his singing career took off, he still lives cheap. "Should I send away for this magazine subscription? Hmm." Eating at Krusty Burger, he saves the extra napkins and salt and pepper that he doesn't use with his meal. That sort of thing. That would rule.

Thw writers decided to continue with the terrible story "A Milhouse Divided". It is unfortunate. I would of liked to see them get back together. Instead they continue with the "man who divorced gets his life ruined and woman who divorces gets a much much much better life" story-line that is terribly unfunny and has been done so many times elsewhere.
