When Gil is shooting craps, he wants a four. This means that he rolled a four on his initial roll, and is now trying to make his point; that is, he keeps shooting until he rolls another four (in which case he wins), or a seven (in which case he loses). "Craps" are irrelevant at this point.
I am fairly certain that there is no situation in which a shooter could be shooting for a four, and lose on snake eyes.
