Hell yeah, the city I live in! They got the stadium a bit wrong, but that's ok! We did have the 1988 Winter Olympics, so it could be reffering to that.

Actually, one of the writers is from here, so I'm sure he threw in the Calgary reference. He's been responsible for most of the Canadian stuff on the show during the past few years. There's been more than one interview with him in the newspapers here.

I was watching it with my girlfriend, and we both thought the reference was awfully swell. That's two one-line Calgary references I've seen on tv. The other one was a Star Trek Next Generations episode where they were on earth, and some guy said they were in Calgary skiing. Ooooh!

That may be possible, but I'm putting my money on the Grammar Rodeo being in Canada as the main reason why they also put the Spellympics there...

They sure did. It makes sense, Calgary also hosted the '88 Olympics. Also the episodes co-producer was Joel H. Cohen; who was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta.
