In the Simpson's 138th episode (The spinoff show), they have a quiz before each commercial. One of the questions was "What 2 popular Simpsons characters died in the past year?" Answer: "If you guessed Dr. Marvin Monroe and Bleeding Gums Murphy, you are wrong. they were never popular". I know this episode aired WAY before Maude Flanders died and I seen the episode where Bleeding Gums Murphy died. BUT how did Dr. Marvin Monroe die? Just curiosus. NOW this past Sunday's episdoe where Marge writes a novel, Dr. Marvin Monroe comes back. He shows up for Marge's book signing. Marge said to him "I haven't seen you in years. Where have you been all these years?" To witch he replied "I been sick". Can anyone explain this? I'm confused

I'm pretty sure this is covered in the FAQ, but there's no episode where he died. The writers came up with the name "Marvin Monroe Memorial Hospital" for "Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 2," and decided the character had to be dead to use that name. His grave is shown in "Alone Again, Natura-Diddly."

The joke is that he came back when everyone thought he was dead. Kind of weird, but pretty amusing, I thought.
