Rather than calling you (I would get a huge bill) can you try it 20 times and se if it spins the other way every time? (Or at least more than half the times)

Hang on, I'll just jump on my bike and pedal down to my neighbour's place...

P.S. With some prepaid international phone cards, it only costs (US) 70c an hour to call here these days.

The coriolis force due to the rotation of the Earth is in the other direction in the Southern Hemisphere, but the force is so small that it cannot be observed in a sink or toilet or bathtub. It can only be observed in carefully conducted experiments, or in meteorological air flows. We discussed this a long time ago. See "Illustrated Experiments in Fluid Mechanics". Specifically, the chapter on Vorticity.

If I lived in Australia, I would not be playing with my sink or toilet. I would be at one of those nude beaches, eyeballing those beautiful amazon women you got down there.

Darren Hayes says:

Amazon women are from South America, and there are nude beached in America

Darren Hayes DOES NOT sunbathe naked.

Water goes down the drain the other way round in Australia (and it does, I just tried it!)

Darren Hayes say No, see www.straightdope.com for more info

All I can say is, in my bathroom basin the water always drains out in a clockwise spiral. Maybe it is just the imperfect shape of the ceramics or the drain, but I believe in magic.. If I didn't, I wouldn't watch The Simpsons.

What I have learned from the Simpsons: "It is better to have two knives than to have two wives."

And if THAT fails, six simple words. "I'm not gay, but I'll learn."

That was a question on Jeopardy the other night and I knew it from the Simpsons. ("Which award-winning actress titled her autobiography 'Me'?").

the

'Me'?").

I believe you. I'm a Jeopardy addict, and tho I can't cite specific examples, there have been a bunch of times where I got the question from having watched The Simpsons.
