Review of Jazzy and the Pussycats (HABF18) -- SPOILERS

SPOILER SPACE:

Nothing but a piss-poor rehash of "Lisa's Rival" (Lisa jealous of another child's musical talent), "I D'oh-Bot" (Lisa getting new pets to cope with depression), "Bart's Elephant" (Simpson kid gets a pet elephant), "Treehouse of Horror VII/The Thing and I" (hiding secret in the attic), and every episode from Seasons 11-16 (pointless guest stars nobody cares about appearing as themselves). I'm sure there were more ripoffs, but about halfway through the episode I had to start drinking pretty hard to make it to the end.

This to shall pass.

Hopefully. I seriously want to believe that the show has started to regain much of its original spirit over the past year or two, but these past two episodes just aren't inspiring my confidence much.

IMO, the series should take on a season of no guest stars, or at least no guest stars playing themselves, or at least no musical guest stars playing themselves, just like Homer gave up beer for 30 days...

Anywhoo, nothing says "jumped the shark" like excessive musical guest star "appearances."

That said, I had a few good laughs. The child psychologist's sign "where imaginary friends come to die." The absurdity of an elephant in the attic. Bart's flat "Ow. My arm hurts. Right were the tiger is biting it." The best laugh was when Bart's empathy attack had him in agony on the floor, pleading for it to stop.
