I agree. I've even heard "jump the shark" get extended to panning music groups. I can only wonder when I'll start hearing the phrase on TV. I bet we'll hear it on the Simpsons very soon.

I already have, some crappy cable morning show (like "Fox and Friends" or some equivalent) used "jump the shark" in a moderately appropriate way.
"Jump the shark" gets my award for "Most Overused and Overexposed Internet Catch Phrase of 2002". Of course, it's early yet.

Certainly, for the overall title. That's why it's only the 2002 winner. Note well, it's only the middle of May, it's still possible that we can run some other insipid catch phrase into the ground even more before December. Hard to imagine, but possible.
