Upcoming Harry Potter Parody?

It seems that one of the THOH segments this year will be a parody of the Harry Potter series. Let's just speculate. Which Simpsons characters would take the place of the Harry Potter characters? Already announced, Burns is supposed to be Voldemort, so Smithers will be Wormtail. More speculations: Ralph - Neville Groundskeeper Willy - Filch Skinner - Dumbledore Maude Flanders - Cedric Diggory really nasty guy who introduces Marge as teacher in PTA Disbands - Snape Kent Brockman - Rita Skeeter

Any other speculations? Funny how there's so many matches between the large cast of Simpsons and Harry Potter.

I just know the Harry Potter parody will be one of those things that pretty much is in the format of "We're the Simpsons, the hippest show on television, so we can make fun of what ever we want, even a hyped up children's franchise!"

You know, it's pretty hard to pull off a good parody when you've become a parody of yourself already.

As the starter of this thread, I feel obliged to say, "I agree". The episode itself will probably suck, because the writers will try to squeeze 4 books into a half-assed 7 minute parody and anyone who hasn't read the series won't understand what's going on. But having just read the series, I'd like to see how the eisode turns out anyway.

I know that Family Guy did a MASH parody. Only Simpsons MASH reference I can find is Skinner at the wax museum saying "I hardly think it's fair to be charged full price; I'm up to my knees in the original cast of 'MASH'!" (courtesy snpp.com).

I was thinking of the book in the "Homer Helps Everyone" from this season. It was by Mike Farrell and had "Why I Hate Trapper John" written somewhere in it.

Wasn't there also one where it was really hot and the showed a wax museum and Prin. Skinner says soomething like, "I'm up to my knees in the original cast of M*A*S*H!" referring to the melted wax statues.

What is it with Harry Potter, he's just a geek with glasses that in real life would be beaten up by Nelson Muntz, Jimbo Jones, Kearney and Dolph every day at school.

I think the Shining is a popular enough book/movie that even people who haven't
seen the films would understand it.

=v= Well, it's popular, even "classic," but you didn't have to know the story to enjoy the _Simpsons_ takeoff. Lines like:

Good point. I think the episode will suck because the writers will capitalize on the Harry Potter fame, and leave any one who hasn't read the books confused. This is a huge problem with recent seasons (complaining time again). I was pissed off with the last act of Computer Wore Menace Shoes, because it was there purely to please those who've watched the Prisoner series, and anyone who hadn't wondered what the hell was going on. I'm all for allusions, but a good Simpson parody is one that can amuse the viewer even if he isn't familiar with the subject of the parody. That's a lot harder to do than it sounds. I liked Treehouse of Horror 8 when it aired, before I read The Crucible. After I read it, I liked the episode even more.

At any rate, I'm interested in how the HP parody will turn out, because I'm one of those few "weirdos" among Simpsons viewers who has read the HP series. (Look, I was babysitting. The kid had fallen asleep. The book was lying around. No TV around. What would you do?) But it will probably suck in the end.
