Biggest syndication cut ever?

"Star India" shows The Simpsons episodes more or less in order. For whatever reason, their cycle starts somewhere in the middle of Season 3 and continues to somewhere in Season 10 -- except for "The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilons," which they don't show. Is that episode really so offensive to Indians?

Why's it offensive?

In my mind, it has to be Season 8's "Homer vs. The City of New York". I have not seen that episode since prior to 9/11...I almost never miss an episode, and therefore I think its been taken out of syndication...has anyone seen it at all in the last two yrs.? or have I just somehow missed it?

Many have reported seeing it. Not me, unfortunately.

That episode was not removed from syndication by FOX. It was left up to the individual stations, many of which have shown it since 9/11. WNYW (the New York city Fox affiliate) has shown it. The station in your area might chose not to show it (a descision that I think is silly, btw.)

thanks for the update...apparantly both Fox stations avail. in my area(WTXF-Philadelphia and WPMT-York, Pa.) choose not to air it...I think instead of removing all images of the WTC, (are they afraid of offending someone? or trying to remove the WTC from our memory? what do they hope to accomplish?) they should instead keep movies/tv shows/news programming that include the WTC or references to it on the air, so all, American or not, will never forget 9/11, or the fact that the war on terrorism is necessary.

I'm sure they don't air the episode more out of an assumption that many will be offended. I'm Indian and my dad thinks the Apu episodes are funny, especially the questions about "the dot."

Is this the episode in which Apu gets married?

The last time I was in India I saw a scene or two from the Stampy episode that I never see in US syndication.

Star India in general shows the episodes uncut -- even the one with the cursing in Hindi. The only exception that I can think of is the end of the "138th Episode Spectacular," in which they cut the "nudity." Which is funny, because they don't cut the "nude scenes" when they occur in the actual episodes.

Is that REALLY Hindi?

No one is calling one spouse cheating on the other "happily ever after." He stopped cheating, and she eventually forgave him. That's how they were able to live "happily ever after". If he had continued cheating, they probably would not be living happily together.
