If only...

Of all the things you've seen on The Simpsons over the years, which is the one you'd most like to see in real life? Professor Frink's embigulator, the escalator to nowhere, or maybe a door-to-door doorbell service?

For me, it would have to be the Australian Prime Minister floating on an inner-tube in a dam, drinking a can of beer.

In fact I'd *pay* to see that...

If you had a time machine and went back 40-odd years, it probably wouldn't be that far fetched...

I'll never forget an incident with Gough Whitlam, and some drunken farmers at the Shutzenfest near Adelaide back around 1974. Jesus... even as a 9 year old I was embarrassed.

The monorail, the robots out of control at Itchy and Scratchy land.

And if you had a toaster, you could turn it into a time machine. C'mon, the subject of this discussion thread is "if only ...".

If it is a bootable offense to disparage the boot, what happens if you disparage the ex-Prime Minister?

Well, in Gough Whitlam's case, he proposed to kick out all the U.S bases in Australia... you can guess what happened next. Yep - the only Australian Prime Minister in history to have been booted (or 'dismissed').

Depends which one...

Then there was Bob Hawke of course, always good for an alcohol-induced quote. But I think he was sober in 1983, after Australia won the America's Cup [Dig, dig] yacht race. when he proclaimed "any boss who sacked a worker for being absent during the race, is a bum!!!" In case you can't guess, he was a Labour PM...

About the same as disparaging the current US president - nobody notices...

I get it... without the added thickness of the clothes she would be invisible... very clever.
