"Lisa's pony" DYN/Comment

I was watching "Lisa's pony" yesterday on the FOX station here in Oklahoma and as a horse owner myself, there were a few things I noticed.

We see Lisa noticing that her pony had not finished it's salt lick. My family and I have four horses and I've never seen a salt lick used on one. I think salt licks are used on other livestock like cattle, but not horses.

Also, how could the Simpsons keep a horse? I mean, they had no barn or stable for it and I doubt the neighbors would put up with the smell as a result of the manuare a horse produces and you can ask my dad, horses do produce quite alot of manuare, LOL:)

Lisa behaved like a typical eight year old here. Wanting a pet, but not having an undserstanding of the costs of caring for it or what the animal needs. Overall, it's a great episode:)

The episode makes all this clear. Homer's initial plan is to let the pony roam the streets by day, and put it in the garage at night. When explained that this is illegal ("That's for the courts to decide!"), he ends up getting a night job at Kwik-E-Mart to pay for keeping it in a stable.

Yes, Robin, horses do use salt licks. Check any equestrian supply catalog, and you'll find licks in there for horses.

You are wandering away from the true purpose of watching the show. Which is to be entertained. You sound like the kind of person who would ask: "Where were the bathrooms on the Starship Enterprise?". Continuity and sensibility are not what you look for when watching a TV show.

Isn't the *only* reference to the bathroom, in Star Trek, contained in the movie "First Contact?" off hand, I can't think of any other.

Yeah, you're probably right, I should have said just ST:TNG since that's the only series I watch. the DS9 reference is interesting, though.

People in the 23rd century don't need bathrooms anymore - we'll have evolved so we waste nothing.

Actually they are in the crew's quarters and at other various locations on the decks, according to the technical manual/blueprints. They were not shown on TV since they never directly related to the story, at least in my opinion. BUT, they were there. Non angeli sunt, Hahaha

My grandparents keep a horse for their neighbor and when I spend the summers with them, I help care for it as part of my room and board. I can attest to two things: 1. Horses do produce a LOT of manure. 2. Horses do use salt licks. I've watched it happen, swear to god. ;-)
