Almost all of my favorite episodes from seasons 6 and 7 were written by David S. Cohen (later changed his middle name to X. for sag) and Greg Daniels. I was wondering if there is ever a chance that they could do "freelance" writing for the show or if maybe Cohen might be returning to the Simpsons sometime in the not so distant future. Daniels of course now works on King of the Hill and Cohen works on Futurama.
Has there ever been a case on the show of people not being staff writers writing an episode. I would love to see Conan do one again if he could find the time. I think it could really spice up the show.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so THAT'S why the show sucks now. What do you know, I ask around forever and i find it in passing in a post here. When they were on the Simpsons did conan, cohen and daniels all write together or on an episode a piece? The ship sure sank when they abandoned ship. Peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
As much as I love Conan, he really only wrote a major part of about three episodes and didn't have a huge part in the show as a whole in those seasons. He'd make a funny writer, but it wouldn't really be much of a "rescue." There would be a few other writers on the same episode as well; he'd never get to write one by himself.
Off the top of my head, "New Kid on the Block," "Marge vs. the Monorail," "Homer Goes to College," and the wraparounds for "Treehouse of Horror IV."
Greg Daniels, David S. Cohen, etc. were important writers for the show, but I'm quite sure that their departure was only one factor in what has caused the ship to sink.

I tend to think that Mimi Pond is a pseudonym, and that the episode was written by someone from the staff. I remember seeing somewhere (it might have been in the S1 DVD) a credit listing, I think, Matt Groening and Sam Simon as the writers on this episode. Does anybody have any info on this or am I just dreaming?

awesome info. I was not wanting a job working for the Simpsons (although I would be willing to take a pay cut if I COULD get one), but was more wondering if people who are now considered outsiders to the show can write or have written episodes.
