The change from old to new.

My FOX station shows Simpson repeats. Who's doesn't. But for a long time they never showed anything earlier then season 5 or so. I found myself wondering why. I was longing to see some of those golden oldies. Well recently they started showing the episodes in order in one of the time slots.

Now remember its been a long time since I have seen these episodes, and I had not realized how much the show has changed. Everything from the art to the voices to some of the "Sets". The old episodes just felt so wrong. Well now that my aimless babble is over how about a bit of trivia. Who knows what has changed. I'll go first. Moe's bar has changed from blue to brown. Marge's voice. Bart's prank phone calls.

- There used to be an extra tower (I think) at Springfield Elementary. - Moe's has made the transition between Moe's Tavern, Moe's and Moe's Cavern (no sure which order though). - Animation. - Lack of Jackie Bouvier. - Carl and Lenny's voices swapped over from their first appearances. - Smithers' skin colour. - Writing standard. - Bart's spikes (not episodes, but it went from thirteen to seven to the traditional nine in the Shorts).

That was ONE episode and it was a mistake.

Moe's Cavern was named that in 9F21 just to be a Beatles reference to the Cavern Club, right?

Yes, but since that episode was a flashback, we can assume that it was Moe's Cavern before it was Moe's Tavern. It's been Moe's Tavern in all of the "present" episodes, though, except for the brief periods of time that it was Flaming Moe's, Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag, and M.

I think the tower was a gag in "Principal Charming," but didn't appear in any other episodes before or after that one. I could be wrong, though.

visually.. Carl's hair has also flipflopped from Brown to Black (to go along with Wiggum and Moe)

The characters in general have lost alot of there stylisation from early seasons.

compare the pear shaped Homer in "One fish,two Fish, red fish, blow fish) to the awful drawings of Homer wearing his speedo in "Blame it on Lisa"

The characters have also grown elbows. and there arms taper more when getting closer to the hand (particularly Marge) no more rubber hoses from the early seasons)

I've heard Dan say that he changed the voice because the original was too hard on his voice when he had to start doing it so much when the series started.
