Rosebud

How come the episode Rosebud is loved here so much? Yeah I know its a funny episode but I don't really see how it stands out from all the other great episodes.

Yet it getrs mentioned here over and over as one of the greats.

To judge the quality of an episode, you often need to see beyond the main plot. The references, the brilliant way to spoof that makes great the Simpsons here are top notch. If you have seen the movie Citizen Kane (and you should... it's one of the best movies ever) you'll love the script and the variations. Personally even if I don't think it's the best, I mark it in my top ten.
