in the episode where the old man is found out to be the creator of itchy and scratchy there are two fights the old man gets into. one is with grandpa over muffins and the other is with Krusty over "blintzes". What the hell is a Blintz????
"Those Blintzes were terrible!" "Paint my fence!!"

Actually, they're Russian, where they're called bliny (blin in singular, although nobody has just one blin; "bliny" is stressed on the second syllable). We here in the States only tend to think of them as Jewish because the Russians who emigrated to the States are disproportionately Jewish. I remember this same debate coming up several years ago when kasha was an important part of a Seinfeld episode.
Technically, bliny aren't topped with sour cream, but with smetana (stressed on the second syllable unlike the Czech composer Bedich Smetana, whose surname is stressed on the first syllable), which is *like* sour cream but not exactly the same. It's kind of like shakes at McDonald's and Krusty partially gelatinated non-dairy gum-based beverages at Krustyburger. Close, but not identical. :-)
